Title On the (non)persuasive influence of a brain image
If the original article contained multiple experiments, which one did the authors attempt to replicate? e.g., you might respond 'Study 1' or 'Experiment 4'. Experiment 3

Brief Statement of Original Result People agree more with the conclusions of a scientific news article when it is accompanied by a picture of the brain.
Type of Replication Attempted Highly Direct Replication
Result Type Failure to Replicate
Number of Subjects 1971
Any other details on results or statistics that you want to mention? A random effects model meta-analysis of 10 replication experiments (and the two original findings from McCabe and Castel (2008) gives an estimated raw effect size of 0.07, 95 % CI [0.00, 0.14], z = 1.84, p = .07. On a 4-point scale, this estimate represents movement up the scale by 0.07 points, or 2.4 % (cf. McCabe and Castel’s [2008] original raw effect size of 0.26, or 8.7 %).
Difference? Same Direction, .07
Any Known Methodological Differences
(between original and present study)?
Present study consists of several large samples from various populations (e.g., College undergraduates, High school students, members of the general public, Amazon Mechanical Turk workers).
